Any Other Fool

Friday evening.

6 O’clock came and went.

There’s no turning back.

The retained platers have been turned in.

Looking over the current list of retained players I can’t help but to think that maybe it would be nice to see the clock turned back for a do over.

The Reckoning keeping a QB with the fourth overall pick? Ok, that’s passable in a 2-QB league. Keeping a second year wide receiver who did “well” late last year “and” has a clear path to be the number one receiver on his team for a round 9 pick seems like good value.

But. . .

Keeping a wide receiver coming off of a season ending injury the previous year knowing that said wide receiver will be suspended the first six games of the season? Hmm.

Then following up THAT with a rookie quarterback who last played in a meaningful game over a year ago. And that was a college game?

What fool made those choices?

I think that maybe the house of Reckoning might need to be that one building that is left standing after a tornado blows through wiping out the entire town.

Call me a fool, an idiot, a moron, a dumbass. I don’t care. I’ve done worse. I’ve seen worse. For example, at least we didn’t keep a defense!

You roll your eyes and think, “yeah sure.” But it happened once back in the NCFLL. The 49’ers defense one year had an incredible fantasy year and ended up in Category 2 or 3. The owner was new to the league and inherited the roster. He was a nice kid and at the draft took his ball busting like a champ. But his Rhythm Rebels didn’t do so well that year.

There are about six players on the list that I was kinda hoping would be available in the draft. I know that hope is not a plan and i’m not talking about the nine or ten other players who I assumed wouldn’t be available. And as I mentioned in my reply to the message from Sean, I’m surprised that the entire first round is gone! Well, except for the first pick. You would never retain a player at 1.01 unless you were in bed with Fantasy Karma and you had that guarantee you would score and slide down on that velvet parkway.

Take the rest of the weekend to finalize your draft prep. Or start your draft prep. But take time to enjoy the opening weekend of the college football games.

  • Pay your league fees
  • Get in the draft room on time for the 830pm start on Monday
  • Go Bucks!(I really want to see Texas, an SEC team lose)
  • More importantly (to me), GO VOLS!!
