Week 14 roundup

The Reckoning 181.36   Dinamos 170.20

Big Daddy 163.12 Devils Snare 199.88

Nobody would have beaten Devils Snare this past week. Not only did they score high points for the week, they also scored their most weekly points for the year. Big Daddy’s WR-Nucua tried to keep it close and sneak a W across the finish line with 41.80 pts. However that was pretty much negated by Devils Snare’s own WR-Chase who scored 45.10 pts himself. Couple that with 38.30 pts from RB-Charbonnet and Big D was doomed. These two could meet again in three weeks in the title game if they both keep scoring points at will.

FNG 151.82  Sloppy Sparrows 157.12

FNG’s owner Sean’s weekend just didn’t go his way. It started off with Kirtland only getting a state runner up trophy in the Ohio HS Division VI title football game on Saturday. FNG scoring 151.82 pts is pretty respectable but that was matched in turn by the Sloppy Sparrows own 157.12. The Sloppy Sparrows now prepare the defense of their 2023 title. FNG is now off Christmas shopping instead of preparing a game plan for the opening round of the playoffs. I don’t think FNG has never not made the playoffs. If so it was probably back when the majority of us were in the NCFFL.

Finkle & Einhorn 138.96  Anal Explosion 134.14

FInkle & Einhorn prepared for the playoffs by resting their starters and it almost backfired on them. Ok, that’s not really the case. F&E were besieged by “bye week hell pt 2”.  Their win was secured Monday night by a 24.3 pt performance from RB-Brown. (You’re welcome Mike)  Anal Explosion’s season is over as they head out to take in their Christmas shopping too.

Sleepy Squad 160.74   Offsides Mother F*****! 116.48

Sleepy Squad tuned up for the playoffs with a season ending win over Offsides MotherF****************! Bye week hell pt2 and injuries hit OFM! pretty hard. A win probably wouldn’t have made any difference as far as playoff opponent for next week is concerned. The Sleepy’s were trying to overcome an 11.52 deficit in the most point race to Devils Snare. At the end of the weekend that deficit had grown to 50.66 pts. As I mentioned above, DS scored the most points in a week than he did the entire season.

Here we are in week 15! The opening round of the playoffs.  Eight owners are game planning and setting lineups this week. All of them seeking that coveted week 15 win. Half of them will close out the season with a loss. And then go Christmas shopping. The other half will go on to play in a semi-final match up hoping to advance to the title game the following week. In week 17 we not only crown our champion, we also determine second, third, & fourth place. This is important because it seeds payout slots. To go along with the $50 payout for each division winner, as well as to the most points winner, our champ receives $125.00. The runner up in the title game receives $100.00. The two losing teams in week 16 face each other in week 17 to determine third & fourth place. Third place pays out $75 while the fourth place payout is $50.

Before we get to the opening round projected winners and scores, here are the final standings for the Most Points Race.

WEEK 15 QUARTERFINAL PLAYOFF ROUND PROJECTIONS.

Devils Snare and Sleepy Squad

Well shoot! Let’s just get this match up out of the way now!  The two highest scoring teams face each other right out of the gate this week. Sleepy Squad’s dominance this season propelled them to a 10-4 record with 2171.38 pts scored and 1916.92 pts against. Devils Snare finished the regular season with a 7-7 record while scoring the most points in the league with 2222.04. Here is where we see why they were only 7-7, they had 2140.78 points scored against them. For those wondering, thats the second most scored against in the league. The teams traded wins against each other this year with Devils Snare outscoring Sleepy Squad by 12.5 pts in those two games

For the top two teams in points scored this season, Yahoo has the score for this game pretty low in my opinion. Yahoo also projects Devils Snare to win. The last 3-game average metric gives the nod to Sleepy Squad. My other models agree with Yahoo, but with higher scoring. In a close one-

Devils Snare 164.52 | Sleepy Squad 158.18

Sloppy Sparrows and Offsides Mother F*****!

The second game in the Silent Bob division pits our defending champ against our newest owner. Both teams finished with records of 8-6. Sloppy Sparrows scored 2147.6 pts on the season to OFM!’s 1973.8 pts. The Sparrows had 2168.3 pts scored against them, which is the most in the league. OMF! Had 1995.7 pts scored against them on the season. Both teams have negative point differential’s which makes their 8-6 records look stronger than they probably are. The Sloppy Sparrows won both head to head match ups this year and also outscored OFM! by 97.06 pts.

In their quest for back-to-back titles, Yahoo thinks Sloppy Sparrows will move on to the semi-finals next week.  The last 3-game average metric show that Offsides Mother F******! will be competitive and actually win. My models think Sloppy Sparrows win too-

Sloppy Sparrows 156.27 | Offsides Mother F*****! 151.49

Big Daddy and Dinamos

The Jay Division winner, 8-6 Big Daddy takes on the 6-8 Dinamos. The Dinamos tried to avoid this opening round match up but their late game surge last week came up short. Last week Big Daddy flexed their playoff muscles their second 160+ weekly point total of the year in a losing cause. Ironically, in their other 160+ week they lost too. Big Daddy marches into the playoffs with 1997.26 points scored and 1936.24 points against. The Dinamos on the year scored 1904.92 and have 1924.94 points scored against them.  Big Daddy won both games when the two faced each other. Biggy D also outscored the Dinamos by 43.36 points.

Yahoo projects another close game here giving the slight nod to Big Daddy to move on. Like OFM! -above, the Dinamos have outscored Big Daddy in the last 3-game scoring metric and could win. All of my other metrics and models say Big Daddy wins this game-

Big Daddy 154.98 | Dinamos 148.51

The Reckoning and Finkle & Einhorn

Both teams closed out the season with 7-7 records. The Reckoning ended a four game losing streak with a win last week to even their record. F&E finished the season with a record of 4-1 over the last five games. F&E scored 1940.34 points this year and had 1934.32 scored against them. The Reckoning fared a little better with 1964.96 points scored. However they had 2111.92 scored against them. That’s 4th highest against in the league. The Reckoning swept the two game season series. But not by much. F&E was outscored by only 5.72 points.

The Reckoning 151.86 | Finkle & Einhorn 143.43

In my email box this morning was my daily drop from The Athletic. In part, the coverage talked about Bill Belichick being named the new HC at UNC. Here is part of that:

“Some in NFL stunned by Belichick
As you know, Bill Belichick is the new head football coach at the University of North Carolina after signing a five-year deal, which sources tell The Athletic is valued at $50 million.

I happened to be at the owners meetings in Irving, Texas when the deal was finally completed, and the reaction from a portion of the owners and execs in attendance was simply disbelief.

It’s happening though, as the final details of the contract were hammered out throughout yesterday. By the afternoon, the school had informed the other candidates for the job, including Browns passing game specialist and tight ends coach Tommy Rees, that it was going in a different direction. That was about three hours before Belichick the Tar Heel became official.”

First the guy is run out of the NFL within striking distance of being the all time winningest NFL HC. Then gets shunned for the HC job in ATL a year ago. Next we see him tooling around with a twenty something young girl AND appearing on the Manning cast on Monday nights. The guy is I think 72 years old and just signed a 5 year $50 million dollar contract. For BB, “Life is Good”
