Week 6 Commentary

At the end of the games this weekend we will be halfway through the regular season. Seven games behind us and seven games in front of us. I don’t think any team is really out of the play off picture just yet. Speaking of The Reckoning, there is a nagging feeling that a collapse could be right around the corner despite a 4-2 record. I don’t like the PF-PA ratio. Anything less than 1 means you’re probably using smoke & mirrors mixed with a little luck to win games. Yet if not for a Jordan Mason fumble, The Reckoning is 5-1. Instead that 5-1 distinction belongs to Sleepy Squad. Which is surprising when you think about the opening day injury to QB J Love and later QB A Richardson. And does anyone remember the last time WR D Adams actually played? A solid PF-PA ratio explains the record I think. Before we put to much stock on the PF-PA ratio, I think it’s a lagging indicator and doesn’t mean that the results will be the same moving forward.

Last week we had three blowout games. The Sloppy Sparrows continued their march to defend their title as well as climbing closer to the top of the most points standings by casting aside Devils Snare by 31.14 points. Unfortunately for Devils Snare injuries at two spots during the game sealed their fate. The Dinamos were blown at the hands of Big Daddy by a resounding 40.1 points. Igor’s squad lost one player in-game, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway as Big Daddy evened their record at 3-3 while also getting over 1 with the PF-PA ratio. Our largest blowout was FNG’s beatdown at the hands of Sleepy Squad. After winning three in a row, FNG now has lost back to back games. Looking at the boxscore I see no injuries. In fact FNG could have started their entire roster and they still would have lost. Pouring black pepper down the throat’s of all you Browns fans up there in the land of Cleaves, Sleepy’s squad was paced by QB B Mayfield. Yes, that B Mayfield.

The Reckoning found themselves in another close game yet again. This week’s margin of victory at 4.76 points was the largest in the past three weeks. Anal Explosion’s WR C Godwin’s 35.50 points kept this game close. But WR C Ridley’s 0.90 points was a riddle that Joe couldn’t solve from the sidelines to snatch a W to lock away in the standings. Our weeks smallest margin of victory was by a mere 3.46 points. Offsides MotherFoolme! stole the win in this game and hung the loss on Finkle & Einhorn. Some strange scoring anomalies in this game though.  OMF!’s RB T Etienne ended the game with -.10 points.  Not to be outdone, F&E’s WR C Olave puked out a -0.50 points. Both players suffered in-game injuries. This was despite my final words last week of “No. More. Injuries!” F&E has now dropped back to back games while OMF! has won back to back games.

I’ll end this week with the current Most Points Standings.
