Last week I introduced you to Gregg Dulli and his Afghan Whigs. We continue this week. And like last week, we get a cover. I know I’m older than most of you but I think you will recall Barry White. Back in the 70’s White was very popular and known for his very basement deep sounding vocals. White grew up in Watts in South Central Los Angeles. At age 16 he was sent to jail for four months after getting caught stealing $30k worth of Cadillac tires. While in jail he heard Elvis Presley singing “It’s Now or Never” on the radio and it changed his life.
This Afghan Whigs version of “I Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” is from Ted Demme’s movie “Beautiful Girls released in 1996.

It isn’t very often that a team is blessed by our goddess Fantasy Karma. This year I think three teams in the league just can’t get enough of her.

Four times this year Big Daddy has received 30+ points from just “that” one special player in the starting lineup. Another time 40+ points. Receiving 30+ or 40+ points can propel your team to the top of the most points standings. It can also mask some scoring deficiencies by other players. When foes look at the Big Daddy lineup they are left scratching their heads and wondering how to defend against that?

OFM! has come up with a robust lineup where in any one week they are capable of scoring anywhere beyond 150+ points. Anyone in the core of their lineup is capable of scoring 20+ points. Those point totals has them in the most points chase and sporting a 8 – 2 record. But do you know who has the least points scored against? You do now of course because it’s OFM! Our goddess has been “mostly” kind to OFM!

The Reckoning have been courting our goddess hard and has a love-hate relationship with her. She has repeatedly kicked The Reckoning in balls, tripped them up with injuries then turns around and blesses The Reckoning with valued draft picks, timely waiver wire finds, and high scores from a player or two in their starting lineup. Kind of feels like a bit of an S&M relationship. Not that I would personally know how that feels but it I think it just seems that way. I don’t know how well The Reckoning will end up the season. But I do know that we need to have her graces washed over us and we can’t get enough if it. Darling please, pleasure over pain!

WEEK 10 RECAP / WEEK 11 PREDICTIONS / MOST POINTS RACE
Week 10 Recap
The Reckoning 158.04 <> Offsides Mother F*****! 143.86: “OFM! pushes their record to 9-1.”
Solid scoring production up and down the lineup for The Reckoning. Their lineup was tight due to bye week players and injuries. There were only two players on their bench that played and scored points. And neither of those players scored more points than any one in their starting lineup. OFM! had a plethora of options. One or two of those options on their bench could’ve been the difference maker for them. They didn’t go down without a fight as one player in their lineup posted 40.50 points. So who did Fantasy Karma favor in this one? To The Reckoning she is a goddess and “I scream her name”
Big Daddy 197.04 <> Sleepy Squad 172.08: “The Squad boys still moping from the Ioffee Bowl results while Big Daddy gets up off the mat and snags the “W” to get back on track.“
The Sleepy Squad posted a very respectable point total and would have beaten anybody else in the league. They had the misfortune of having to listen to “Sweet Baby James” sing and play his guitar up and down the field. Is there no stopping this guy? If not then we may be seeing a repeat champ in about seven weeks.
FNG 165.52 <> Anal Explosion 99.04: “Anal Explosion probably takes this game.“
Yeah, that didn’t happen. FNG had two players score over 20 points, one player score over 38 points, four players over 10 points and the Anal Explosion players didn’t. A&E’s highest player point total was just over 17.
Finkle & Einhorn 108.90 <> Sloppy Sparrows: 76.98 “Sparrows Karma for the win!“
Gosh did I ever get this one wrong. Finkle & Einhorn gets the W added to their win column but this is more like the Sloppy Sparrows lost instead of an F&E win. F&E didn’t get much help overall from their starting lineup. But, 1/ what help they did get was enough and 2/ They didn’t need much help. Sparrows Karma did a rug pull and caused a low point for the season with a season low not only for them but also for the league. The Sparrows 76.98 pts is not an all time low output though. That record is still held by the 2021 Reckoning in Week 15 with 67.16 pts.
Devils Snare 147.90 <> Dinamos 148.44: “I flipped a coin and I’m going with The Dinamos for the win.“
I sucked this week picking the games. And using a coin flip to decide all the games might get me a better outcome. A decent amount of points scored by each team. Both teams scored more than was expected. But Devils Snare did a little better. To the Dinamos she is a GODDESS! To Devils Snare, not so much.
Week 11 Predictions
The Reckoning <> Big Daddy: First place in the Jay division is on the line. The Reckoning with a win would be tied in the won/loss columns and would hold an edge over Big Daddy in head to head meetings. In W2 The Reckoning pulled down a win. The models indicate that this will be a close game. And the slight edge is given to The Reckoning. “Tell me what can I say? What am I gonna do?” I am begging our goddess to cast a win down onto The Reckoning. Yet “I feel the change” And that means a W for Big Daddy will leave me to scream her name.
FNG <> Finkle & Einhorn: FNG has fought back to an even record where as FInkle & Einhorn are underwater at 4-6. F&E needs the win more than FNG does. The models all say that FNG walks away with the coveted W. I think that will happen. FNG for the win.
Devils Snare <> Offsides Mother F****!: Offsides Mother F*****! lost last week for just second time this season. Devils Snare had a mild two game winning streak snapped in a disheartening defeat by a margin of .54 of a point. Devils Snare could use the win more so than OFM! The models indicate a somewhat close game for DS with the same result. These two teams faced each other in week 2 where OFM! soundly defeated DS. OFM! for the win yet again.
Anal Explosion <> Dinamos: The Dinamos are looking to extend their two game winning streak to three. Anal Explosion is looking to prevent their three game losing streak from turning into a four game losing streak. The models think it will be a close game. The Dinamos seem to have a knack for being in close games. I flipped a coin last week and went with The Dinamos. Another coin flip this week. Can this work two weeks in a row? Dinamos for the win.
Sloppy Sparrows <> Sleepy Squad: Sleepy Squad enters this game sliding in on a two game losing skid. The Sloppy Sparrows are 1 and 1 in their last two games. But last week lost in a blowout. Our goddess has not been kind to the Sparrows at all. Well, except for their game against The Reckoning maybe. She was very gracious that week to the Sparrows. The models are all leaning decisively toward the Sleepy Squad. Who am I to disagree. Sleepy Squad grabs the win.
Most Points Race
The top three teams all stayed where they were. Big Daddy has a commanding 138.52 point lead over the second place team. This is getting close to being over. FNG, Sleepy Squad moved up to 4th & 5th place respectively. But are over 250 points behind.
