This week takes us north of the border to Toronto, Canada for our band. The Cowboy Junkies were formed in 1986 by Alan Anton, Michael Timmins, Peter Timmins, & Margo Timmins. The three Timmins’ are siblings. Margo is the vocalist. The Cowboy Junkies are still active today and have 16 studio albums and five live albums. They are currently live on tour in Australia. This weeks video of “A Common Disaster” is from Massey Hall in Toronto on May 24, 2018. It features a duet with Tom Wilson & Margo Timmins. Wilson, a popular Canadian musician is late to arrive onstage which creates a nice intro to the song.
A candle burning for everything I’ve ever wanted
A tattoo burned for everything I’ve ever wanted and lost
I had a long list of names that I kept in my back pocket,
But I’ve cut it down to one and your name’s at the top
At kick off for the 1 pm games this past Sunday thirty-one (31) players on our rosters were listed as out, on IR, or on the PUP list. That’s 14.9% of the league rosters. And that doesn’t count the players who were declared out during those games. Are these injuries the great equalizer or a common disaster?
Won’t you share a common disaster?

A common disaster
At the start of last weeks games The Reckoning had 2 players on IR and 2 listed as Out. Big Daddy had 1 on IR and 4 listed as Out. FNG had 1 listed as Out and 1 on the PUP-R list. Finkle & Einhorn showed 5 on IR and 1 as Out. Devils Snare had 1 on IR and 2 Out. Offsides Mother F****! had just 1 Out. Anal Explosion showed 1 on IR and 1 as Out. The Dinamos had 2 on IR and 2 Out. Sloppy Sparrows had 3 on IR and 1 Out. Sleepy Squad and nobody on either list.
I found myself a friend,
But he’s crooked as a stick in water
So now I’m writing fairy tales
To catch the spirit of revenge
He’s got a plan to steal my little sister,
But I’m not too concerned
‘Cause I will get him in the end
Won’t you share a common disaster?
With just three weeks left in the regular season most of the league’s teams can count on a playoff spot. There are six teams with five or less wins. Any of those teams cans still make the playoffs. For two teams the path won’t be easy and a tie breaker might need to be used to determine which two teams don’t get in. And all you need to do is get in. Once you’re in the playoffs anything can happen.
And when you do you just need to avoid the common disaster.
Share with me a common disaster
A common disaster
Going to find me someone to share
A common disaster
Run away with me from a life so cramped and dull
Not worry too much about the happily-ever-after
Just keep the Caddy moving
‘Til we’re well beyond that hill
Won’t you share a common disaster?

WEEK 11 RECAP / WEEK 12 PREDICTIONS / MOST POINTS RACE
WEEK 11 RECAP
For the week I went 4-1.
The Reckoning <> Big Daddy: “Yet “I feel the change” And that means a W for Big Daddy will leave me to scream her name.”
Yahoo made this game their game of the week. It was a clunker! Neither team scored anywhere near their projection. Injuries played a role for Big Daddy who lost a RB early in the game. A RB who was projected to score over 20 points. All it took to win this game was for anyone to out produce the projections. Big Daddy’s CMC did, but his points were nullified by the above mentioned RB injury and a couple of WR’s and a RB underperforming. This is the second week in a row that some beautiful Fantasy Karma was spread over The Reckoning. The win gives The Reckoning the Jay division lead for the time being. Our goddess is a beautiful goddess and “I scream your name”
FNG <> Finkle & Einhorn: “The models all say that FNG walks away with the coveted W. I think that will happen. FNG for the win.”
I thought wrong. As did the models, but not by much. FNG had two players score over 20 pts. F&E had one plus another fall a half a point short. F&E had just over 24 pts from both QB’s while FNG had over 30. I think the deciding factor was that FNG had a RB & a WR who under performed as well as only gettin 6 pts from both kickers. In the end it was enough for F&E to get the slim 2.8 pt margin of victory.
Devils Snare <> Offsides Mother F****!: “These two teams faced each other in week 2 where OFM! soundly defeated DS. OFM! for the win yet again. “
Spot on for this game. OFM! Received solid production from everyone in his starting lineup but 3. Devils Snare received solid production from only 4 of his starters. The win pushes OFM!’s record to a league high of 9 wins. More importantly for OFM! is that they are the leagues first team to qualify for a playoff spot!
Anal Explosion <> Dinamos: “Another coin flip this week. Can this work two weeks in a row? Dinamos for the win.”
Another win for the coin flip! Buoyed by over production from a QB, a RB, & a WR The Dinamos didn’t need a coin flip to get the win. There may be a qb issue though as QB Herbert was lifted early in the 4th quarter. Could it be that he was pulled because his team was getting walloped? But when QB Allen scores over 40 pts, who needs to start 2 QB’s? The Dinamos received 75 pts from just two players. The Dinamos 206 pts was not a season high for the league, but it was the highest output this year for the Dinamos. Anal Explosion put up strong fight and would have won against any other team this week.
Sloppy Sparrows <> Sleepy Squad: “The models are all leaning decisively toward the Sleepy Squad. Who am I to disagree. Sleepy Squad grabs the win.”
I would not call this a decisive win, but despite losing QB Penix in the second half, The Sleepy Squad pulled down the W. RB Henderson ran wild for the second week in a row for Sleepy Squad. I guess he took a nap before kickoff. And then another one during halftime. Everyone of those 30+ pts were needed since a couple of WR’s for Sleepy Squad were slackers. Speaking of slackers, if Sloppy Sparrows hadn’t of had three slackers of their own in the starting lineup, they probably would’ve won this game.
WEEK 12 PREDICTIONS
The Reckoning <> Finkle & Einhorn: These two teams met back in week 3. F&E won the game by .54 points. The morning of the Sunday games The Reckoning ownership made a late starting lineup swap. That swap cost them the game. This week the projections show a close game on tap. The past two weeks our goddess has smiled favorably down on The Reckoning. They will need her blessed graces again to align with the models and hold off Finkle & Einhorn. “I scream her name”
Big Daddy <> Anal Explosion: Big Daddy is looking for a bounce back this week and should probably get it with the return of Jame Taylor and his crooning running style. It should be music to Big Daddy’s ears. Anal Explosion is also looking for a bounce back this week. According to my models all I see is a dead cats bounce for A&E. Big Daddy grabs the “W” and resumes their march to the top of the Jay Division.
FNG <> Devils Snare: FNG fell just short of the a win last week. Devils Snare fell far more short than that. This week looks like a bounce back week for FNG. Devils Snare is trying to fight through numerous injuries (who isn’t) and bye week issues to keep a playoff spot within reach. And forget about a dead cat bounce, they need to set several traps to snare some wins. But the models say that it’s FNG who snares the win and grounds Devils Snare.
Sloppy Sparrows <> Offsides Mother F*****!: OFM!’s win last week clinched a playoff spot. A win this week would secure the Silent Bob division. Standing in their way are the Sloppy Sparrows. The Sparrows have had one of the sloppiest seasons that I’ve seen in quite a while where fantasy karma was wrong, all wrong. Well, except for the week against The Reckoning. All the models show them as 19 point underdogs. I don’t see a path where they prevent OFM! from clinching the division. OFM! for the “W” in this game.
Sleepy Squad <> Dinamos: Back in week 9 part 1 of the Ioffee Bowl took place. Where this week is actually the Ioffee Bowl part 2, for The Sleepy Squad it’s The Ioffee Bowl-The Revenge Game! The Dinamos riding a three game win streak since that week 9 victory hope to remain dynamic after scoring 200+ points last week. Last week The Sleepy Squad broke a two game losing streak and hope to turn that into a two game winning streak. The models project the S Squad to do just that. The Dinamos will need super QB Allen to play super again this week. The Dinamos will need another super human efforts from RB Tucker, wr McBride and wr Kittle. Just what are the odds of all that happening? No coin flip win this week for The Dinamos as Sleepy Squad takes the win.
MOST POINTS RACE
With the top two teams scoring below their average this week and a bottom half team scoring way above their average we had some movement in the rankings. The Reckoning dropped a spot to third swapping spots with OFM! The Dinamos moved up 3 spots to fourth pushing FNG down one to fifth. Devils Snare dropped one position to seventh.
A week or so ago I thought this race was over. But if Big Daddy continues to post points in the one-teens we’ll probably see a challenge for the top spot.
